With the 3rd International Symposium for Young Lasallians (ISYL) rapidly approaching, RELAN delegates and Councilors gathered at the 2013 Huether Lasallian Conference in New Orleans, LA, to continue preparations. Nine of the 11 Young Lasallians who will represent RELAN at the Generalate in February 2014, were present at this November 2013 gathering.
Over the course of their time together, the room was filled with a palpable energy and excitement, especially as the team took time to reflect on the themes:
- Vocational Growth: Personal, Professional, and Spiritual
- Service for the Poor
- Lasallian Educational Mission: Pedagogy and Curriculum
These themes were identified by the International Council of Young Lasallians (ICYL) and will be pursued over the course of the symposium. Time was also spent in prayer, reviewing the pre-symposium manual, planning the social media presence that will be used to report on the symposium as it happens, and determining ways to make the outcomes of the symposium accessible to all Lasallians around the Region. With at least two representatives from most Districts and delegates ranging in age from 19 to 34, the team offers a solid glimpse at the realities for Young Lasallians in RELAN.
